What is a hydraulic bollard?
Automatic hydraulic bollard, also known as rising bollard, lifting ground column, lifting road bollard, anti-collision road bollard, hydraulic hydraulic bollard, isolation pile, etc. Hydraulic bollard is widely used in many occasions such as urban transportation, military and national important agency gates and surrounding areas, pedestrian streets, highway toll stations, airports, schools, banks, large clubs, parking lots, etc. By restricting passing vehicles, it effectively guarantees the traffic order and the safety of major facilities and places.
Chinese name hydraulic bollard.
Introduction
Automatic hydraulic bollards, also known as lifting ground column, lifting road bollard, anti-collision road bollard, hydraulic hydraulic bollard, isolation pile, etc. English name Bollard. The word Bollard originally described a short vertical column, which was often used when large ships were moored in ports. Today, its meaning has been expanded to describe various facilities that manage pedestrian traffic, protect key infrastructure, set perimeters, and distinguish roads.
Legend has it that street guardrails began in the 17th century, shaped like inverted cannons, used as boundary settings and city signs. Since then, they have become more and more common in our daily lives, and can be seen everywhere, such as supermarkets, restaurants, hotels, shops and stadiums. It is common to see bollards of various shapes, which are used to indicate the direction of travel, to protect us from injuries, or to tell us whether parking is allowed here. These beautiful bollards beautify the environment, distinguish between sidewalks and roadways, and sometimes even serve as chairs for us to sit down and enjoy lunch.
Fixed metal bollards are the most common. They are generally about 36 high painted steel bars, poured with cement inside, and installed on the ground. Some bollards are cubic, but most are cylindrical structures with angled or flat brims. Bollards come in a variety of sizes, colors, textures, shapes and functions. They are either fixed, movable, retractable, or used as decorations to decorate the original steel pipe bollards.
Many bollards have an aesthetic function, especially metal bollards, which are used to prevent vehicles from damaging pedestrians and buildings, as a simple way to control access, and as guardrails to demarcate specific areas. They can be fixed to the ground individually or arranged in a line to block roads and keep vehicles out, thereby ensuring safety. Metal guardrails fixed to the ground serve as long-term barriers, while retractable and movable guardrails can ensure the entry of certified people and vehicles.
Automatic hydraulic bollards have three main applications – architectural (decorative), security (impact resistance) and landscaping (perimeter protrusion). All bollards can be used in architectural and landscaping, and only differ in style, shape and material. When it comes to security applications, different bollards are used to block different objects. For example, bollards used to stop traffic are different from bollards used to deal with protection (impact) problems. When it comes to security applications, the first thing to consider is the size of the vehicle and the speed of the vehicle when the impact occurs.
Classification
After years of application development, bollards have expanded into a variety of styles. Its main categories:
- Pneumatic bollard: air is used as the driving medium, and the column is driven to rise and fall through an external pneumatic power unit.
- Hydraulic bollard: hydraulic oil is used as the driving medium. There are two control methods, namely, driving the column to rise and fall through an external hydraulic power unit (the driving part is separated from the column) or a built-in hydraulic power unit (the driving part is placed in the column).
- Electromechanical fully automatic bollard: the column is driven to rise and fall by the motor built into the column.
- Semi-automatic bollard: the rising process is driven by the power unit built into the column, and the descent is completed by manpower.
- Lifting bollard: the rising process requires manpower to pull and the descent depends on the weight of the column itself.
- Movable bollard: the column and the base are separated, and the column can be folded when it is no longer needed for control.
- Fixed column: the column is directly fixed to the road surface.
The main use occasions and advantages and disadvantages of various types of columns are different, and they need to be selected according to the actual project when used.
For some high-security application sites, such as military bases, prisons, etc., anti-terrorist-level hydraulic bollards are required. Compared with general civilian-level hydraulic bollards, the column thickness generally needs to reach more than 12mm, while the general civilian-level hydraulic bollard is 3-6mm. In addition, the installation requirements are also different.
Certification standards
There are two international certification standards for high-security anti-terrorist lifting bollards:
- British PAS68 certification (need to cooperate with PAS69 installation standards);
- US Department of State Security DOS certification.
Test 7.5T truck hit at a speed of 80KM/H, the truck was stopped in place, and the roadblock (hydraulic bollard, road bollard) worked as usual.
For civilian-level hydraulic bollards, although the performance is slightly worse than that of anti-terrorist-level hydraulic bollards, its protection performance can fully meet the needs of civilian security and is frequently used in daily life. It is suitable for vehicle access control places with large traffic volume and medium security requirements. It can be widely used in banks, government agencies, R&D centers, power stations, highways, industrial parks, high-end villas, high-end office buildings, luxury stores, pedestrian streets and other places.
With the strengthening of the domestic anti-terrorism situation, the protection of sensitive areas of buildings is particularly important. Hydraulic bollard is being accepted by more and more users due to its many advantages such as safety and beauty. However, the hydraulic bollard products have been in the Chinese market for a short time, with little market accumulation and feedback, while the demand has suddenly expanded. As a result, the products on the market are mixed, and inferior products are common. A large number of users and integrators have become victims of some unscrupulous businessmen’s profiteering.
Usage
full automatic bollard
The take-off and landing of the hydraulic bollard can be automatically completed through legal authorization information. The fully automatic door hydraulic bollard is also the main equipment of various manufacturers of Automatic hydraulic bollards products. It is generally used in places where take-off and landing are frequent and there are certain security forces around.
Semi-automatic bollard
The hydraulic bollard is locked or released by a manual key. When the equipment is in the raised state, it is automatically locked after the key is released and automatically raised after the key is released again. This type of product is mostly used in places where take-off and landing are rarely required. Or places where there is no security force in the surrounding area. The main reasons are that the semi-automatic bollard has low construction costs and high anti-theft security without a control panel or control cabinet. For example, it can be used in places such as pedestrian streets and squares. In addition, it can be used with full automatic bollards in some entrances and exits with larger widths.
Fixed road bollard
The part on the road surface has the same appearance and material as the fully automatic/semi-automatic bollard, but it cannot move. It is mainly used in conjunction with the fully automatic/semi-automatic bollard.
Mobile road bollard
No need to bury it deep, the part on the ground can be manually removed and moved. It is mainly suitable for some places with small traffic and guarded by staff. Since they need to be movable, the main body of such devices is generally thinner and lighter, and they mainly serve as a symbol and have weak anti-collision capabilities .
