One Way Turnstile Gate for Subway Station

Over the past year, commuters have noticed a series of higher, harder to jump turnstile gates at certain subway stations, part of an effort by the MTA to combat fare-beating while also making passage through easier for bikes, strollers and wheelchairs.

TikTok star Kiing Spiider posted a video showing how to lean over and open gates without paying. However, this technique may not always work.

1. Safety

Subway turnstile gates are composed of rotating arms which enable one person at a time to pass through a barrier, designed for use by authorized users with valid credentials or tickets. Once an authorized user presents these credentials or tickets, the gates rotate open before locking shut again after passing them through and blocking off entry of anyone who attempts to use an illegal ticket or credential. While some models provide one-way access only, others support both entry and exit.

Waist-high gates, also known as half-turnstiles, are a convenient and straightforward option in subway stations, offering convenience but without providing as much security. Unauthorized individuals may easily scale over these barriers or step over them altogether, leading to bottlenecks or delays during busy stations.

Full-height turnstiles feature larger barriers that are difficult to climb over, making them an excellent solution for high security applications. Furthermore, full-height turnstiles can also be designed to include features to further increase security and efficiency – for instance some models can be programmed to automatically open during power outages, helping passengers exit faster from stations; or connected to metal detectors or X-ray machines to detect and deter intrusion attempts.

2. Convenience

Turnstile gates are pedestrian access blocking devices (access control management equipment) designed to block passage into charging and passage channels at various charging and passage occasions. Their primary function is to allow only one person at a time through, and can be divided into three types depending on how movement is controlled: mechanical, semi-automatic and fully automatic.

However, unlike their waist-high counterparts, full height models require users to input permission before being released – this could involve using non-contact IC card swipe, biometric identification or direct button access as ways of “inputting.”

3. Security of one way turnstile

Turnstile gates provide another essential tool in managing crowd control: they enable businesses and mass transit stations to restrict entry of unapproved individuals into mass transit stations and corporate office arenas. Turnstile gates can be designed with various security features for seamless integration with existing security systems – oftentimes even operating without guards present!

Some models are specifically designed to prevent tailgating – the practice in which an unauthorised individual follows an authorized individual through an open door and gains entry without being tracked or monitored – while anti-theft technology uses cameras to monitor entrance/exit counts, alerting staff if suspicious activity is observed.

Subway Turnstile Gates have the added capability of recording passenger flow and ticketing data, which helps improve subway operation management and data analysis. Their blocking wing is typically constructed of aluminum for high strength, beautiful appearance and environmental protection; equipped with infrared sensing capabilities it can operate under controlled, free mode or fire fighting modes, or be programmed to open and close automatically depending on specific passage modes.

Metro turnstiles can be operated using various techniques, including card swiping, document scanning, barcode/QR code scan and biometric recognition. They can be set to allow one person at a time through at a time or rotate and lock either direction to control entry/exit; additionally they may provide information displays, alarm sounds or light prompts for security and access control purposes.
